MW antenne Ras Al Zawr, two masts, each with omnidirectional pattern for 783 kHz und 864 kHz
In Ras Al Zawr close to the existing Continental antenna two masts were erected, one for a transmitter on 783 kHz and the other for a transmitter on 864 kHz.

The site map below shows the arrangement of the three antennas.

It was required
- that the horizontal pattern of the existing antenna for 1440 kHz would not be influenced by the additional masts and
- that the horizontal patterns of 783 kHz and 864 kHz would be omnidirectional. Special measures were taken to achieve this goal.

In addition it was required that it should be possible to tune both of the transmitters to nearly any frequency in the medium wave band. Mainly for this reason it was decided to use two masts. A diplexer on one mast wouldn't have give this flexibility.

Every antenna is equipped with statically grounded guy ropes. Hence all parts of the antenna are statically grounded in order to avoid flash overs by static charges during thunder and sand stoms.

Compare with the map above. on the left the power station and beheind the transmitter building.

Both antennas are provided with statically grounded guys,
which is obtained by guy coils.
Guy coils
The guys are statically grounded by guy coils. They are tuned to values, which reduce the current on the the guy to a minimum.
The barbed wire fence shall avoid touching of antenna parts with hazardous voltages.
